Growing In Unity Blog Hop

Hi there!

So our GIU Blog Hop is TODAY!!!

Here is the hop order...
If you came here first, you need to start at the Unity Blog!!!

Rachel Bogner <--- are="" here="" p="" you="">

I made a card using the same layout I used during my week of Growing In Unity.

My BFF is having a birthday real soon,
so I needed a birthday card for her.

This card went together so quick, the longest part of it was finding my vellum!

It's in the box that my Acetate Paper came in ;)
Just in case I can't find it again.

So here's my card:

I love how soft the background is for this card. Much different look than the same layout I used a couple weeks ago!

Close up so you can see the Velum and the sewing I did in the middle.

What do you think?
I used the Unity Set -

I used SU markers to color the stamps before stamping to add that pop of color... I used paper from my scrap drawer, and my die cut machine to cut the vellum to be an extra soft touch behind the sentiment....

Don't you just love how easy Unity Stamps are to make a quick and easy card??

Make sure to leave a comment for a change to win...
and then head on over to

blog, and leave her some love too!

Todays project is a couple of candles.

I stamped the flower from Let Your Dreams Bloom on my tissue paper,
but wanted to try out different mediums.
I decided to color one image with Stampin' Up Markers...

And the other with watercolors.

I colored the back side of the image.
That way I could be a little messy in my coloring!
I really like how both of these turned out,
but I did learn that it is better with Dark Colors,
to use the watercolors instead of the markers.
Watercolors blend much easier on the tissue paper and didn't leave lines where you colored.

Before I wrap up my week, I had a fb message asking me about my backdrops.
They can be found HERE.

Aren't they fabulous?
AND GUESS WHAT...
Mrs. Vahl has offered my readers a discount code.

So, once again, I have a Christmas card for you! I love this Christmas Tree stamp. Last year, I had my Christmas cards all planned out in my head… and then Unity released one of the Kit of the Months with this BEAUTIFUL stamp in it! So then I had to make ALL my Christmas cards with that stamp!

This stamp came in this kit:

And, because it is such a beautiful image, I have to use it again. Just because!

I stamped this image, and wasn’t 100% thrilled with how it stamped. My ink just didn’t cover as good as I would have preferred on this image. But instead of trashing it… I added water to my image and spread around the green ink and made a water colored look to it.

What do you think?

Here is last years card with this image:

Today is two cards for one!
I wanted to see what this would look like with a paper pieced image....

and one that is watercolored...

I stamped the background on the red one in black and the one on the turquoise with Versamark.
I think I love the watercolored one the most. It turned out so pretty!

Which do you like better?

Growing In Unity 2016 - Day TWO

Have I ever mentioned that I really love Unity Stamp Co.?

I really do.

You can read their blog
Or shop for stamps

They are so easy to use. I have this card layout. That I use for many, many cards. It is so easy to put together, in many different colors, and just keep around to add a sentiment to, as needed.

Here is today’s card:

On this card, I use a sentiment from …EVERYTHING COMES FULLTURN.

This is my blank layout:

How cute is this? It is a very simple. Card Base. Two strips of pattern paper in one color, approx. 4x2.5”. One paper in coordinating color/pattern, 4x5.25”. Apply the strips at the very top and very bottom of this piece. Sew (or faux stitch) where to back layer is visible at the pattern strips. Apply a circular “frame” for your sentiment. Mine is a gear shape. I love using that shape because if I use guy colors, it is still “manly” enough.

Then when I have occasion for a card. Say birthday, sympathy, graduation, get well, love, Valentines… I just get a Unity Sentiment – typically from one of the EVERYTHING kits – and I have a very simple, yet awesome card to give to someone special!

There are just a few of the Everything Sets!!!

Here are a few of my other cards made with this layout, and Unity Stamps –

Thank you for coming and visiting me today!
